HB174: The Marriage Equality Act
No one should be denied the stability, commitment, and benefits of legally recognized marriage because of whom they love. This bill would codify the right of all individuals to marry, regardless of sex, gender or sexual orientation and ensure all laws, policies, and regulations will be applied equally to all married couples. Secondly, no state or local government entity, agency, or official would be able to refuse to recognize any marriage.
HB175: Constitutional Amendment for Marriage Equality
Marriage equality is a settled issue for most North Carolinians, and our constitution should reflect that. HB175 would propose a constitutional amendment that explicitly protects marriage equality in the state to protect LGBTQ+ families in the event of the Supreme Court overturning Obergefell.
