Supporting the Working Class

HB207: Remove Barriers to Labor Organizing

"Right to Work Laws" harm the working class, prevent workers from negotiating for better wages, and keep workers out of corporate decision making. HB207 would repeal North Carolina's "Right to Work" laws and the unnecessary hurdles to forming a union. On average, Right to Work States have 3% lower wages and 36% higher discrimination charges in comparison with non-RTW states. We support empowering the working class and, as a result, growing the middle class.

HB303: Make Corporations Pay What They Owe

HB303 would repeal the corporate income tax phase out enacted by the General Assembly in 2021. The phase out, expected to go into effect this year, mandates that the corporate income tax be 0% by 2029, placing a heavier burden on working-class North Carolinians. It’s simple: major corporations should pay what they owe instead of pushing the burden onto ordinary citizens.

HB339: Economic Security Act

The Economic Security Act is an all-encompassing bill of legislation that would support working families in North Carolina. This bill would raise the minimum wage to a living wage, and includes other common sense policies like: paid sick leave, equal pay for equal work, family medical leave, reenacting the earned income tax credit and child tax credit, and more.

HB353: Fair Minimum Wage Act

Workers in our state deserve to be paid fairly. HB353 would gradually increase the minimum wage to at least $18 per hour by 2030. North Carolina should not be sacrificing the wellbeing of our workers to improve our national business rankings. Happier, healthier, and better cared for workers make better businesses.
